Folk, Singer / Songwriter

Folk music and accoustic singer songwriter music has unique challenges and requires a experienced engineer and the right gear to do the job. Unlike Pop or Rock music playing to a "click track" or metronome may not be the best option, and auto-tune would destroy the nuances of well performed vocals. At Blue House Recording Studios our audio engineers listen to, appreciate, and even play folk and accoustic music. We understand the different approaches needed to create good folk recordings and have the experience doing so.

Blue House features some of the best gear for folk and accoustic singer songwriter music. Both of our Kensington MD studio and Silver Spring Maryland location are equipped with ProTools HD3 systems, a variety of preamps from brands like API, Millenia, and Syteck, and an array of mics from manufacturers like Neumann, Royer, and AKG. Refer to our equipment page for specifics. We also have two excellent grand pianos, a Steinway B and Yamaha C7, as well as a vintage Fender Rhodes.
